If you're sharing the document on the Internet, you might want to look
into converting the Word document into a PDF file. Not everyone has
Word. PDF generating software is available on the web. Check out
cutepdf.com. CutePDF Writer is freeware.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Attach a MS Word Doc to a Person

Ron, I've not found a way to "attach" a document to an individual like
you
would attach a picture or a source citation but I have found that you
can
provide a hyperlink to Word Documents on their web page by doing the
following:

Save the Word document as an html file.

I also tried just using the Word doc instead of saving it as an html
file.
The embedded html code will pull up the document (some_word_file.doc)
but it
brings it up in the Word editor. Ok I guess if you wanted to edit the
file...

Copy the some_word_file.htm document to your "pictures" folder and to
the
"web/pictures" folder.

Add the following line to the individuals notes:

<a HREF="pictures/some_word_file.htm">Some Word File Description</a>

This embedded HTML code generates a link to the file on the individuals
web
page.

Or, you could create an event for the individual and enter the line in
the
text that would be displayed when the web page is created.

When creating the web pages click "No" to both "Delete all existing
files"
and "No" to "Remove all existing picture files".

I just tried it with the web page generator and it works for me. Reports

only print "Some Word File Description" on the report.

For more information: In Legacy click on Help->Search For Help On... and

enter "HTML code" to learn more about embedding HTML code.

Also, you don't have to use the "pictures" folder. You could put the
file in
any folder but if you create family CD's with Legacy the pictures file
is
one of only a couple folders that gets copied when Legacy setup runs. I
have
several sub folders under pictures I use for various things.
