The above has been included in several posts lately. Several things caught my attention one being the use of "primary sources." I am not sure I would consider any of the information on the IGI as a Primary Source as it has all been transcribed by someone, and many of the sources weren't primary to start with. It was decided a number of years ago that the source information would no longer be included when someone submitted information to the IGI as it was taking up too much space in the data base. This is what I was told about 4 years ago when I tried to track down information on a record I found in the IGI. It is not always easy or even possible to go back and verify submitted information on the IGI, which creates a nightmare for researchers. As has been stated before it is good for clues but beware of accuracy. Those records with citations should be easy to follow thru take the film number and order the microfilm from SLC at your nearest LDS Branch library. All Branch or regional libraries like SLC are open to the public. If the listing you are interested in was a "Patron's Submission," don't be surprised if the person submitting the information doesn't have good sourcing. Because of the manor or lack there of for sourcing the IGI it seems to me that it would be virtually impossible for Legacy to create a way to detail the sources for each submission.
