Thank you - this did in fact work this time around. When I did "search and replace" previously (as noted in original post), it worked fine for the Given Name but wouldn't for the Surname. But this time it worked. I wish I could remember how I tried it the first time, but memory fails! I am glad it worked this time around.
Thanks everyone for your replies. By the way, Cathy - the AKA fields where I had only supplied an alternate Given Name did end up matching all sorts of non-Soundex Surnames during the Legacy-IGI Search, so I believe it uses the AKAs during the search. This IGI Search has been tremendously helpful in finding (clues for) first husbands of Census households where I find stepchildren of a different last name.
