I use CoffeeCup for writing the basic html then copy and paste, but there is no reason you could not do it right in notes, if you happen to be nimble with html code.
When I work up the energy to re-build my main site, I plan to do indexes sorted by state/city. There were many notable Quaker silversmiths, mostly in the Pennsylvania/Delaware area.
