That probably is the problem. When you specify All Ancestors, I believe Legacy
goes up the tree, then back down all the branches. If there are common
ancestors, you will pull in their trees too. In a nutshell, it pulls in the
entire "island".

I can't suggest a quick and easy way to solve your problem, as I rarely split
files and I don't have the common ancestor problem that you do.

The only thing I can even think of is to try the top-down approach instead of
the bottom-up approach. Maybe use "Search|Miscellaneous Searches|Direct-line
ancestors with no parents" to find the tops of all your lines. Then, for the
lines you want to export, add "Descendants" (not "Entire Descendant Line") to
your Focus Group.

Are the individuals that you want to export marked with a specific
trust-worthy source? Maybe you could "Show List" on that source and tag the
results?
