Bob: I think this came up once before. When you look at your Options / Customize/ General tab - is your "Display LDS Information" box checked?
Another location for this search selection is in the Temple icon which lists "Search IGI for completed Ordinances". Selecting it leads to the same search menu. If and when you finally get there - Options - on the right - gives you the chance to limit searches, etc., as you mentioned in your first email.
