All of the scanner operation is done as the result of pressing "SCAN" button BEFORE ever goind to Legacy. HP software is launched by scanner.

When doing pictures (NOT slides) scan is initiated by pressing "button" in Legacy.. I can find no controls/commands for bringing just an already prepared picture into Legacy.

I think the problem is you are trying to launch your scanner software from
within Legacy and it isn't giving you all the options to scan.

You should scan your images in your preferred scanner software (outside of
Legacy) and save them as .JPG files. (Legacy launches your default scanner
software. Your scanner software you are using to scan your slides may or
may not be your default software.)

Once you have them scanned and saved in the correct format and correct
folder, you can then attach the files in Legacy.

See if this works.

1. Slides do fine EXCEPT into Legacy.
2.I don't want to buy equipment I don'tg have
3. I could print a paper copy then scan the "picture" into Legacy.
4. I'll go to Legaacy for help.

Frank, I see there are already some good replies here about using scanners with slide attachments to do what you need. Another method to digitize slides is to use a digital camera, which I have described on this mail list: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Technical/SCANNERS-PHOTOS.html

You'll find a link to the archives at the bottom of the page. There
are many other scanner and camera tips there as well.
