Isn't it the same in all Windows software? Whenever you ask to open a file
in most packages, what you are presented with is a list of file names of the
recognised types/extensions, and the window that appears is identical to the
one in Legacy. I don't think I've come across a program that presents the
extra information you can show in Explorer.

So I believe this is a standard Windows mechanism to open a file. If you
want the details you need to right click on the filename and select
properties.

Alternatively write a nice letter to Mr W Gates and ask him to change the
way Windows works :)

Thank you so much!  This has solved my problem in Windows Explorer.
Now, does anyone know how to make it work with Legacy?  I find that my
list of family files to open still shows up without details no matter
what I do.  Am I missing something?
