Hi John,
The fact is you can't do it currently exactly as you can't set tabs - but
you can get pretty close.
I'll email you privately with examples.
Either cut and paste the text complete with tabs and the tabs stick OR use
CTRL-tab.
However for very uneven columns I've found you need to use a combination of
spaces and one tab.
Changing margin size or size of indents in a report can mess it up again.
However it's about 18 months since I took the time to check my census input
in reports and tinker with it so it looked OK in the report - and those
ones still print OK.

I'm not adventurous with fonts. I'm happy with the defaults for most text
though sometimes choose a fancier font for titles.

Cheers,
Cathy

I have been fighting with columns in the event notes for a few days now . .
. the columns are winning. I can't keep them straight. I read Legacy's
archived messages relating to aligning columns, and they weren't much help.
Some of the messages were old, and yet the problem remains. One person said
something about buying a CD that would explain it, but . . . he or she
didn't bother to tell anyone how to do it. Changing the font was said to
fix
it, but that changes the whole look of the report, and to be honest, I
didn't try that because I'd like to find another option if I can.

The bottom line is, I have a lot of census data to enter in the events, and
I'm entering them the way Legacy recommends to enter the list of names,(in
columns.) Never-the-less, I don't want to go any further with entering the
information in columns until I can solve the problem. I'd like to be able
to
keep the columns lined up straight, - in all the reports and views if
possible.

I hope someone out there has the answer.

Thanks
John
