The problem with abbreviations is that if your family tree is studied by someone outside your country it can become confusing. For instance WA I believe is Washington it is also Western Australia. SA can be South Africa or South Australia etc. And who knows in a hundred years these abbreviations may mean nothing, just look at a world map from fifty years ago. No country is immune from change if you doubt what I say just look at the British Commonwealth.
