I've noticed the same thing, and asked the same question some time back. The answer, in short, is that if you include Alt. Names, you lose birth order sorting, and no one knew any way around it. I hate it too :-) It would be lovely if it could be fixed ...

My Name List order changed after I Included Alternate Names. Before - same names would be in birth order. Now they are not. How may I put same names in Name List back in birth order?
