On the Merge Options screen, click the Options... button. One of the options
is "Include Only People Who are part of the current Search Results". This is
what you want. So go back and tag everyone who uses the import source. Then
run a search on that tag # to set the current Search Results list. Finally
run
the merge with "Include Only People Who are part of the current Search
Results" checked.
