*some* FHC have a special scanner setup that will allow you to put a scanned image (JPG computer file) from either microfilm or print media (flatbed scanner) directly
onto any USB drive. Our local FHC recently got such, and I was told that that's *all* they have in Salt Lake City now.

(I threatened to bring in our 250 Gig external hard drive!!)

Just how do you get the image from the book or microfilm onto the flash
drive while at the library? The only way I know to do it is to make a
photocopy, take it home and scan it into the computer.

I just bought a USB memory stick (called a flash drive or jump drive, has

256 MB

capacity) down at Best Buy. I bought it so that I have a way to store

microfilm

or book images from my trips to the library and Family History Center.
