Jean, I'm doing a little "research" on recording census data (again!).
When you said "also since the description section will not export, I try never to use it." I think you mean the Event's description field. However, it does appear to be exported. I ran a little test. I see the Event Description in the GEDCOM file; however, it doesn't show in FTM when I load the exported file (that's the only other gen tool I have).
