Usually not, no. Structures, schematics, etc., improve as Legacy improves.
If an updated version of Legacy does not employ a new structure or schematic
in data organization, then yes, you can do that. I would *not* count on
being able to do so.

But, if going from Legacy 5 to someone who has Legacy 3 for example is
desired, the person with legacy 5 should make a Gedcom and let the person
with Legacy 3 import the Gedcom (preferably to a new family file at first
before merging).
