Okay, granted that I came in halfway through this discussion and don't know
the full context... but I've seen a test export from Legacy. As long as you
choose "suppress details for living people" then you won't get the private
events and details exported. Those items simply won't be in the GEDCOM. So
however the Google cache is coming up with those private details, it wasn't
from that particular GEDCOM. Perhaps there was an earlier version of the
file that was uploaded without being privatized and that's what Google
crawled and then cached.

To see about removing items from Google's cache, see this link:

        http://www.google.com/remove.html

Now sources are more of a problem. When I was using FTM 2005, I had a
combination of methods. First, I keep my own list of items I want deleted
and removed for privacy purposes before export. So some sources actually
get changed a bit; some stuff gets cut out. Then I exported with a private
setting. Then I used the custom import filters on Rootsweb to do a more
thorough job of cleaning. I believe Rootsweb's import will suppress all
sources for living individuals if you choose that (in advanced options).
After I got the file uploaded to Rootsweb, I would download a copy of it
(the version allowed for all users from the website) and then I would use
THAT version of the gedcom for other websites.
