That's a great idea - I used to use DOS based Pedigree which allowed me
to create just such events with multiple connections. Currently, when
entering census and similar records I do the following - not ideal, but
at least the printouts are more readable and considerably shorter!

Determine the primary individual in the census record - for me that is
usually the direct relation, or if more than one person in the household
qualifies - the head, and enter the full census details for the
household as an event named 1841 (or whatever) Census. Using the
Clipboard for Events I then add the event to each of the other
individuals, but remove all the entries for persons other than
themselves and add something like - "With parents and siblings" "With
wife and four children".
This procedure doesn't let me see at a glance who is there - if I made a
separate source for every single census reference it would, but that is
too unwieldy for me. However it does let me see - on individual and
family group sheet reports - which census details I have located for the
individuals in question. It also appears neatly on the Individuals
Information Screen

Hope this helps

Subject: [LegacyUG] Events common to multiple people

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this group, having discovered its existence only this week,
and have been using Legacy
5.0 for about six months now.

I was wondering if it is possible to have one event with several people
linked to it? I suspect
not, but it doesn't hurt to ask. :-)

The situation I'm thinking of at the moment is the emigration of my
great-great-grandparents and
their three children from England to New Zealand. Add in another child
that was born on the voyage,
and there are six people all together who experienced this event. :-)

Up until now, I've been creating a separate event for each person, and
then copying the text from
one event for one person, to a new event for the next person involved,
and so on. This is what I've
been doing for UK census records so far.

But, is it possible to do it another way so that I can see at a glance
who was involved in a
particular event, without naming each of them in the event's details?

Looking forward to your replies. :-)

Kind Regards,
Wendy Howard
