Okay, I've done some more testing and I've been able to reproduce the error.
But - and correct me if I'm wrong - it seems like the ONLY thing that is not
swapping correctly is the "Description" field. My note fields swapped to
the correct places, and everything else (master and detail sources with
comments) swapped fine. The problem was the "Description" field - and that
would make sense, because there IS no equivalent field for a birth record.

The program seems to differentiate between vital events (birth, baptism,
death, burial) and other added events. Added events have a field for
"Description" that is separate from the "Place" field. But since vital
events are just that - vital - to have a description field where you would
say "Birth" all over again is redundant. So it doesn't have the field at
all. That becomes problematic when you swap the birth with the alternate
birth, though, since the alternate birth was created using a different
number of fields.

The way Legacy could fix this is by adding in a hidden field for all vital
events that was for "Description" and the description could be simply a
repetition of what type of record it was (birth, death, burial, etc.). This
hidden description field would be hidden and suppressed from all reports,
displays, etc. - it would only come into play when the swap function takes
place. That might fix it all.

Until then, yes, we need to be very careful when swapping events to make
sure we're not mixing up the data. But I think (based on my tests) that the
ONLY thing getting mixed up is that the description field stays attached to
the Alt. Birth event, instead of traveling to the new birth event.

Thanks for bringing this bug to our attention, Linda!

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Swap with Birth

Linda is right - it is a problem only if one uses the description and/or
note fields. Perhaps that is a clue for us until fixed - just done use
them, or even reset the usable fields for Alt.Birth and Alt.maybeanything
