This past while I have been doing a lot of catching up on
attaching sources to my data. Yesterday I ran a sample report and
realized that all the sources and their detail I have entered had
the option to include the detail text in reports turned on. I
don't really want that.
In hopes of finding a quick way to reset that option to
NO I have tried the following:
I looked at the advanced sourcing screen and there was no
obvious way to do it there, it seems designed to add sources to
people in batches rather than modifying the sources that are
already cited.
I also tried the global search and replace and I see that I can
search the citation details but only for text. If there is a way
to search for flag status I didn't see how.
I also checked the Master Sources List without seeing a way to
reset the include detail text flag there.
I also know that Legacy uses the Access Database file structure
so I tried using Access 97 on a copy of the file but the database
is based on a later version of Access and I was not be able to
read it. Microsoft changes their file formats on a regular basis
and earlier versions cannot read the later file formats.
Understandable but frustrating.
A search for the people based on date modified showed over 2300
and I have tagged them so I will be able to step through the list
but it will be a BIG job if I have to revisit each one and amend
the source detail for all their events just to switch off the
"include detail text" flag.
Am I going to have to manually revisit all these people? I hope
someone here can tell me there is a way to do a global change to
the flag to include detail text on reports using some method I
haven't thought of. I don't care if I have to turn off every
place where the flag is set to yes to get the job done quickly, I
generally put the detail text into the source detail just for my
own information.
