John, You're pretty much hit on the "attraction".
Smaller (a lot of libraries now won't let you take in laptops) Cheaper (well, not always, you can buy cheap laptops and expensive PocketPC's) Lighter (try putting a laptop in your Pocket! - not to mention you can stick it in your pocket at a library instead of worrying that the laptop will be stolen - also drag a laptop around a cemetery compared to a device that fits in your pocket and also has a screen highly readable in direct sunlight) Kevin -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of John R. I've since used it in libraries and cemeteries and taken it to family get togethers and vacations to collect data and photos. It works very well for me. I don't have a pocket PC. I don't see why one would want one for genealogy! Really! I understand they are great for displaying data, but still I'd prefer the bigger screen of a laptop. Why use one of those stick things when you can use a full keyboard? Storage on a laptop is much greater than one of those pocket devices, especially today when laptops with 40 GB HDs are cheap and 100+ GB are available. I honestly don't see the attraction of those pocket thingies for genealogy. Yeah for keeping appointments and such, but not for genealogy. Yes they are lighter and cheaper and smaller. They are also much more limited in what they can do IMO. Anyway that's my opinion!
