When I have a 5-6 field location field, I put the "whole' name in the
location notes, and trim the name for the program. If you want, the "short"
version can be longer than the main version. An example of how I use this,
In main field Cemetery, County, State, Country.
In notes Cemetery, Town, Township, County, State, Country.
In short version Cemetery, Town.
You may find what works best for you. IMOH, it is somewhat rare to find two
like named cemeteries in the same county, and if yes, there is Green Valley
of Shelby, Green Valley in Skokie. Remember your field names do not need to
be "legal" names, but identifiable names.

I am a new Legacy user and am asking for advice on entering locations. I
know that Legacy recommends following the procedure of listing the city,
county, state and country, in that order. If portions of these locations
are unknown you insert a comma and this will allow the program to report
locations properly when calling for specific locations, e.g. in a report.

Most of my genealogy locations are in Canada and in my former program I
entered the following: city, township, county, province, country.
Obviously, this order will throw things out of kilter with Legacy's
program.
What is recommended - totally eliminate the township in the location? If
so, is there an appropriate place elsewhere to document that information?
When doing research, it is extremely helpful to know not only the county
but
also the township you are looking for. I'm sure there must be a fairly
simple solution to this - any suggestions will be gratefully received.
