I agree Sharon, but what I'm saying is that according to Dick Eastman the user has control of which timelines the use, and the user can also create timelines. A census event for example is an event that took place at a specific time. If the user can create an event, then why can the user not create a census event and attach it to the appropriate individuals.
Admittedly, I have not seen the program, but if I'm interpreting what Dick Eastman is saying about the timeline correctly, then I see no reason not to use it for, church meeting events, swimming in the creek convince, or any events we choose. The question is, can the timeline of them be attached to more than one individual at a time, and will it sort by the date within the chronological report. It sounds like an interesting feature, and it may just give us the workaround, or possibly serve the same purpose that the witness template in other genealogy programs do. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how this feature works. Let's just hope that the feature gives us that much control. With this you can see what new inventions were made during your great-grandmother's life, a war that might have affected a relative, etc. To me, some events in my timeline would be "Elvis Presley - songs, Army, death", "Martin Luther King Speech at Washington Monument - I Have A Dream", "The Supreme Court unanimously outlaws racial segregation in public schools", "Vietnam War", "Polio Epidemic", "Assassination of President John F Kennedy", "Watergate", "Man Lands On Moon", "Attack on World Trade Center", "Personal Computer Invented", etc. Since my life span covers all of these events, you could see that I was alive during this time and might wonder how I was feeling or what I was thinking or where I was - AND it would be a good use to ask those really old relatives that are still iving - how did this event affect you?
