A few weeks ago my laptop was fatally damaged by a major flood in my
flat (apartment in US English?). My insurers have supplied me with a
new laptop and I've loaded my Legacy database from a backup - only
that backup was taken 10 weeks before the flood and is missing quite a
bit of data.

In the meantime, someone employed by the insurers has, apparently,
rescued my data and may be sending me my most up-to-date Legacy
database in a few days time. But I'm getting withdrawal symptoms and
would like to update the older file.

My question is - if I give into temptation and update the older file,
will I be able to use IntelliShare or something to merge the two into
one? I've never used that facility so don't want to compound the
problem. And are there any tips on how to arrange the merge? I've
got nearly 6,000 people so wouldn't want to go through one by one.

Thanks for your help - and let this be a lesson to all - back up
regularly (not just every 10 weeks), and remember to back up your
Legacy user and report settings files too from the C:\Legacy folder
(which I didn't)!

And, finally, I do recognise that my plight is so much less severe
than that of so many in New Orleans to whom I send my profound
sympathy.
