June - It is the same with their 1880 US Census. They let you have the
search results but to actually see the images yourself, you will need
to have the subscription. Frustrating, I agree. The free part is to
get search results. Before, you didn't even get that (as far as I
recall, but you say you were able to?). Their advertising-URL Tom sent
doesn't say anything about seeing images, if you notice.

So its sort of like familysearch.org, where you get names and data
online, but no images. It is still useful and helpful, if you didn't
have it before. If a local library has free access to Ancestry, then
you can save time by doing all the searches from home, then go to the
library and actually look up the names you were able to find to see
the images.

This is my understanding. It isn't wonderful, but it can still be
useful. [Especially in that it is easy to copy and paste into Legacy
notes! ;-) Now on-topic. LOL]
