Yes. That is how a lot of people do it and what I plan to do when I go back 
through all my file names next week.

Actually, I have no excuse for my having to go back and redo it all. I've 
been a programmer for 30 years and file name conventions have changed over 
the years. I just thought that in the 21st. century that the space problem 
had surely been resolved even if people were still saying "not". I was 
wrong. So, now I have to say I have been wrong twice in my life :-)

Do you think using underlines would work? Or stay away from those too?
I only have about 30-40 pictures in Legacy, so far, all with spaces of
course, but I am willing to listen to the voice of experience!!
Especially since I plan to have hundreds.
