You could try Salem, Massachusetts Bay Colony.  Same for your 
Oregon location. "Town name,"Oregon Territory.  While that would 
be accurate, if you are planning to do LDS ordinances, you can plan 
on it being kicked out of the computer. -- Alice

the sixth state to  enter the union in 1788. Before that it was a colony 
under British rule.  Salem was settled in 1626, the name was chosen in 1629. 
Salem was  incorporated as a town in 1680 and as a city in 1836.

How would I enter  this as a location?

I also have a town in Oregon before it became part of  the USA too.
