*I want to give a report on the refugees from LA as I am here in Houston area and know what is going on. First had good reports from church people bringing trailer loads of stuff to Al,LA and MS from Michigan and having been there now for a day or two. Electricity is coming on in towns all around - NOT NEW ORLEANS - that is another problem. But thanks to all the volunteers they have cleaned up the trees off the lines and power is restored, still a shortage of GAS there but people reported today that lines were down to 15-20 min, don't travel at night - small towns shut theirs down at night. One things one of the volunteers reported today was a mother and grandmother in a hurry to get home and see what they have left - left their most precious gift there child - 7 year old boy at the station, forgot he was in the bathroom. Luckily policemen are manning the service stations so he was in good hands. Wonder how long it took for them to notice. No report on that.

Some churchs have quit taking money as they have all they need they say. They are buying supplies and bringing them in - 3 21' trailers loaded will be down this next week from Michigan. This is what is needed the most: hair pics and combs, not sharp points if going to shelters,* From the people who are over there in La, Al and Miss. directly -The biggest need was for food, baby and sanitary supplies – we collected diapers, Pedialyte, and formula, canned goods and used clothing. We purchased underwear, toilet paper, socks, feminine hygiene products and toothbrushes en route. We brought clothes and can goods and picked the rest up at WM and Dollar General when just N of our destinations. Thank God for these people!

*I have clothes being shipped in big boxes from stores in Washington state should be arriving here on Tuesday by UPS. In the shelters they are being fed so don't need canned good but do need granola bars, gum, mints, snack products.

Some are leaving the shelters seeing that this is a long term thing and don't have relatives to come take them in so as soon as they get their funds from FEMA will get rental places and people are in place to help them with that, others are in place to get furniture for them. In the Dome, according to my friend people are being offered to go to other parts of the country and will have jobs and places to say waiting on them. The Trinity Broadcast bunch took a bunch to Calif. and treating them like royalty with gifts of cars, housing, money - lots of toys to the children, waste of God money in my opinion but whatever. We have a place here in Houston Gallery Furniture and Mack the owner will be setting families up with the basic in furniture as well as other stores as soon as they can get a place . People who had insurance on their houses and cars there will have to get their insurance company to tell what they will do before FEMA will take over that will take time. So they to will be renting for a while, some home owners insurance will pay for that. Schools there will not be open for a year so people see no reason to rush back even if they could, New Orleans.

Well that is it at the moment and a break from V6 :-) . Flo in Texas
