I would say that OVER ALL I am very happy with Legacy. My objections are confined to specific areas. I do feel that the new icons are cartoonish and less clear than the old ones (several look so alike that you have to rely on the tool tip to know which function is which), but my main objection to them is that they used a lot of development resources that could have been better employed elsewhere.
My #1 gripe is the lack of a fix for a Relationship Calculator problem that I've complained about several times and been told several times that a fix was 'coming' for. I feel that a number of substantiate and needed fixes were shoved aside in favour of adding more bells, whistles, and gongs. I also feel that the much-ballyhooed 'new' genetic genealogy support was VERY poorly thought out and 'designed' by somebody who had no understanding of the subject. This seriously disappointed a lot of people who see genetic genealogy as an important new research tool; they've been presented with a 'breakthrough feature' that amounts to nothing more than a notes field that can't be searched and doesn't print out on any reports. The template-driven marker entry come across as being just chrome. Glen > I just think Legacy 6, and its Research Guidance, are the > best thing for genealogists to use. I do appreciate the icons, but yes, I can understand why > some don't. I appreciate being able to select my own colors.
