Aha! If I'm following you at all, if Millenia add mtDNA capability, there may be hope for running a Lineage report for a maternal line...? That is, the ability to traverse maternally would support both of these. Well, I can keep hoping. --Paula
Mitochondria DNA (mtDNA) is essentially the opposite of Y-DNA; everybody - men and women - get it from their mothers, who got it from their mothers, etc. For a couple of reasons mtDNA is not as useful for genealogy, but I proved a set of 3rd great grandparents using mtDNA testing. Two of the four listed companies - FTDNA and RG - offer mtDNA tests. Legacy has taken the first step into the DNA area, recording Y-DNA. I feel confident that it won't be long before we have the ability to report the results of Y-DNA tests - and mtDNA tests.
