Thanks for the suggestions!

As I understand it, we're locked into the new database format. That is,
we've made too many changes *after* upgrading to the new database
format. Several of us took a five day research trip, 600+ photos of
headstones, etc. There's no practical way to take an earlier back-up,
and re-enter all that work. At least I don't *think* there is... :)
