I had a DSL problem similar to yours. I couldn't even log onto the
internet. After consultation with my provider, they advised that every week
or two I should turn off my modem for about two minutes. Apparently that
cleans out something that was accumulating and getting in the way.
So now, on Sunday morning, before I turn on my machine, I turn off the power
on the modem for a few minutes, and the problem hasn't recurred.
