Jim--

I'm still using V5. I followed your instructions. I do not understand
the Error Log--
For example;

There were 14 Picture record(s) that were unreferenced by any record. These
Picture record(s) have been removed.
======================================================================
 The unreferenced picture file was linked to a master source. Picture
Name=C:\LEGACY\KANE PICTURES\DEATH\Certificate - May G. Turpin
Partridge.jpg, Caption=Death Certificate, Date=1931

What does this mean? "unreferenced by any record. . .have been
moved" -- All pictures were already linked to a source pertaining to an
individual, and are still there.

Also, File Repair reduced the size of the file from 10,024 to 4,332 kb,
which I guess is normal, but the number of individuals rose from 364 to 405.
How could this happen?

Frances

LUG subscribers,

Before you convert your Legacy 5 family file to the Legacy 6 format I
recommend:

1. Run a Potential Problems Report and correct serious data and relationship
errors in your records.
2. Run File Maintenance > Check/Repair. If you get error messages while
proceeding with Check/Repair, click NO in the error message box to continue.
3. Do the Check/Repair a second time just for good measure.
4. Backup your family file.

IMHO doing a regular Potential Problems Report and frequent Check/Repair is
like scheduled maintenance for your car. You don't wait for the red engine
light to come on and then decide you need to check your oil or service your
car.

Thanks,

Jim Terry
