Hi RoadRoy,

I just gave the Search Notes or "Find" feature a try, having just become aware of it from your message.

First, while viewing an Individuals Event Notes, the Search Notes feature appears to work fine, but while trying it in an Individual's Research Notes, The behavior is a bit odd, but I it does work IF you follow this procedure:

press CTRL-F to bring up the "Find" diaglog box.
fill in the search criteria.
press ENTER.
- now, if you have really fast eyes, you may notice the first instance of the word, if found, will flash very quickly as highlighted, then go back to normal, leaving the appearance of "nothing happening" with the search. BUT ... next press the F3 key (this is important) - only now will you see the first instance of the found word highlighted. next, to cycle through all instances of the found word, seeing it highlighted in the notes text, just repeat pressing the F3 key.

Interesting behavior for a search, but atleast you can find what you are looking for. ... Now, if we can get it to work in the Master Source Text and Master Source Comments areas, I could be found doing a happy dance. :-)

Kind regards,
Dan Bateham

Subject: [LegacyUG] Search Notes Feature

While viewing notes, if I press Ctrl-F I get the normal find dialog box. While in individual notes, when I enter the target word and press enter, the dialog box goes away and the target word is not displayed. Does the find feature work for anyone else? (I have Legacy 6.0.0.64.)

Help for Find shows that it should work.

Search Notes
Fill in what you would like to search for in the notes field.
Start at Beginning—Finds matches at the beginning of the note if selected, otherwise the text could be anywhere within the note. Find Whole Word Only—Finds only occurances of a matching whole word, not portions of a word. Match Case—Only looks for matches that have the same letter case as the search text.
