Do the charting addons Legacy TreeDraw and Legacy Charting Companion have a Legacy-style option to display short locations? A non-Legacy version of Charting Companion shows the Legacy sample file GEDCOM with place holder commas.
I do not see an option in Legacy 6 Deluxe to export short locations in GEDCOMs for use with non-Legacy charting applications. A separate "chart" database could be maintained using Legacy or a non-Legacy genealogy program but that means making changes in two files with the same individuals. A researcher must make a choice to enter locations for OUTPUT if wall charts and readable book reports are more important to a family project than a complex database with uniform locations. Place holder commas are distracting. Some of my Canadian research areas have sources organized by county and some have no county names. Many rural areas 50 years ago are now part of cities so the old names and land descriptions are needed to find sources. -- Elizabeth ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gail Nestor" > Maybe some other users have thought of other more easy-to-implement > options than the ones above.
