Hi Karen,
No problem, as I said a matter of personal choice,
Ron Ferguson

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] type of record??
June:
Jack has clarified that the records from the GRO are civil records. As for
the use of the GRO as a source like Ron does, may I suggest that you use
the
GRO as a repository as they do have several different types for records.
I
wouldn't use NARA as a source but rather the repository where the source
was
found.
Some times our list of sources does get long but I also like to be able to
see who is attached to the source under "Show List" and while you will get
a
list of the people who have a record from the GRO you won't know from the
list which ones come from the same source, because the details aren't
included.
Just a thought

The certificate came from the GRO (General Register Office) but they were
married in church -should the Type of Source show as a church record or
civil registry?

It's a matter of choice I guess. Personally I use GRO as the master
source and include births, marriages, deaths as the detail. Thus one
master source covers them all.
