Hi, all, I've been trying to use the Geolocation database, and find its inaccuracy really quite a problem.
Using Autoroute (which is pretty accurate) as a reference, Salisbury, my home town, is for example 15 miles west of where it is given; Fowey, that lovely fishing port in Cornwall, is reported as 15 miles Southeast into the English Channel! I've also checked with www.maps.google.com as another thread suggested. It confirms Autoroute to be correct. I've looked at the data tables (the database is mildly passworded) and they rely on Legacy to interpret them, so correcting them might be a problem, even if I could understand their way of working. The Lat and Long for Fowey, as an example, are given as 450834 (50.2 deg N) and 134418 (4.38 deg W), which I don't understand. Comments and advice, please Warm regards :-) Alastair Lack Legacy User Group Etiquette guidelines can be found at: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp To find past messages, please go to our searchable archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup%40mail.millenniacorp.com/ To unsubscribe please visit: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/LegacyLists.asp
