Hi Jack,

I have pretty much the same setup on my main computer (a laptop with wireless home network on cable broadband), i.e. Legacy 6 deluxe on win xp2 w/sp2, NIS w/ Norton's firewall active. The update notice from Legacy 6.0.0.64 to Legacy 6.0.0.66 showed up just fine, as well as the update loaded without problems.

This doesn't help resolve the conflict you have, but does confirm that in "can" work ok.

Dan Bateham.

Subject: [LegacyUG] [V6] Update available flag

I have mentioned this before, but Sherry has suggested I ask again on the
list.

My main machine runs Legacy V6 deluxe and is on XP SP2 and also has Norton
Internet Security (NIS), with the Firewall operating to protect the
broadband link.
The other two machines connect to the internet through this machine (via
ethernet), but don't run a firewall because they are behind the firewall on
the first one. One has XP SP2 and NIS running for anti virus etc and the
other has ME and AVG running.

The two machines without a firewall correctly informed me when an update was
available e.g. they said something like Installed version 6.0.0.64,
available update 6.0.0.66.

But my main machine still said "installed version 6.0.0.64, you have the
latest build".

This looks as if it is an issue with NIS blocking the update check software and probably a privacy setting in NIS to do with "active pages". I've made a couple of changes to see if it makes a difference, but won't know until the
next update is available

Is there anyone with NIS who has managed to resolve this or who has the same
issue? Equally, is there someone with NIS and who gets the update message
OK?

By the way, I am not looking for suggestions about changing Firewalls as I
am happy with NIS - I just want to find the setting needed to overcome this problem. Other sites publish configuration settings for firewalls when they
know that their software causes an issue, but Millenia don't have a system
running NIS and so aren't aware of the problem.

I do get Legacy News right up to date on Legacy Home, so the machine
obviously will communicate with the Legacy web site OK from within the
program. It's just the "updates" bit that doesn't work.

Jack
