No Legacy has many predefined events and lets you add custom event names as well. Just look in the bottom of the person's detail edit screen and press the add button to add special events.

Each of the events has its own note field as well as the Event Name, Description, Date and Location. The find screen lets you specify event notes as a field to search too if you want to find a specific entry. Of course this will search all events not just the notes for a specific kind of event but you could use the extra conditions to limit the results to a specific event.

Hi,

I just used the search method suggested by Graham. Great! About 12% of my individuals have General notes. These were done in PAF and since I recently switched to Legacy, I was pleased that they transferred OK.

Next I tried same search for Notes-birth and found none. Bummer! In PAF, these show in General notes as:
BIRTH:
at beginning of a paragraph. So I searched Notes - General, using "Contains" & BIRTH: and found 86 individuals. It will be tedious to cut and paste from General to birth notes, then move on to Baptism, Death and Burial notes.

PAF also has notes tags for marriage and several other options plus you can add custom note tags, I made Social Security #, Blood Type, etc. Is Legacy limited to 4 primary events?
