Many thanks to all the kind people who answered my query. I have now followed Dave's instructions and have successfully tagged all those I now have found on the 1851 census.

If you have one or more sources for the 1851 census then go to the Master Source List, select/highlight all the 1851 census Source List Name lines, then click the Show List button. You can then tag everyone in that list.
