Using the children's surname as the father's surname could be incorrect.  I
have several instances where the mother is known and the father is not but
the children use the mother's maiden name as their surname

I suggest that you create at least one person for these
marriages. If you know the surname of the family then as Ron
Ferguson suggested create a husband with that surname. If you do
any merging, these marriages with blank people will multiply. to
see a full explanation of why they exist visit the archives and
see the email from Ed Barnard dated 21 Jul 2005 with subject
Large Files. If you cannot find it Email me off list and I will
forward a copy to you.
