Kathy,

1. Uninstall Legacy 6.0. This will not delete any of your family files,
pictures or other data. It will only remove Legacy 6.0.

2. With Windows Explorer or My Computer find and look in the C:\Legacy
folder or whatever folder you had Legacy installed in. Within this folder
you will find several files remaining that you will need to delete.
Carefully delete all of the files in the Legacy folder but DO NOT delete any
of the folders like the Data folder, Picture Folder or Web Folder as these
folders hold your data and you don't want to accidentally delete your family
file or pictures. All the other files should be deleted.

3. Use this link and download and re-install Legacy 6.0:
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadLegacy.asp .

4. Start Legacy 6.0 and click on Help, Unlock Deluxe Edition and enter your
version 6.0 Deluxe Edition Customer Number.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Can't open Legacy suddenly

Today I ran into problems with some spyware on my machine and ended up
deleting some files. Several checks indicates that the machine is clean
now. Whatever I deleted must have caused some other problems because now
when I try to open Legacy I get a message telling me that Legacy has
encountered a problem and needs to close. My data is safe I think because
it is on another drive on the computer. I then tried using my backup and
restoring from my external hard drive. That didn't seem to make any
difference in starting the application so I'm guessing that the file I
deleted belongs somewhere else on the machine.

Should I just de-install and re-install?

Advice appreciated.
