Depending on the census, the relative came from France and Germany.
One, Phillip Bach was b abt 1790 and his daughter, Catherine b abt 1823.
Know where it is but not sure when it was considered French or German.
Any help would be most appreciated---they both ended up in Louisa County,
Iowa.
