I don't have Microsoft Access and have never used it, but I have
discovered that the new and (free for downloading) OpenOffice.org
version 2.0 open source office suite http://www.openoffice.org/ has a
datbase application called Base that supports Microsoft Access,
recognizes the data tables of Legacy and opens them for editing. All I
had to do to enable OpenOffice.org Base to recognize my Legacy family
file was rename a backup copy to (something like) MyFamilyFile.fdb.mdb,
and then follow the prompts in the Base application. I found I will
have to generate my own forms, queries and reports, but I suppose that
would also be true if I were using Microsoft Access. Gee -- it would be
nice to have a detailed list of the contents of all of those
cryptically-named Legacy data tables!
