Hi Debbie,

Unfortunately I didn't make my first post clear as to what I wanted to do:
1) I have a location string such as Local Cemetery, Great Town, BIG PRAIRIE COUNTY, Nevada, USA 2) For the Location - short string I want to end up with Local Cemetery, Great Town, Nevada, USA

In other words I would like to be able to pick out any of the comma delimited location parts and delete just that location part.

I have been able to search and replace the "COUNTY" problem but I still find that my Short-Location comma delimited string is still <to long>

Do a Global Search and Replace.

Go to Search > Search and Replace
Select under "Find Where:" "Lists - Location Short"
Under "Find What:" enter " County," (make sure to use the
beginning space and ending comma)
Under "Replacement text:" leave blank

Under "How to find" check off "Anywhere in Field"
Under "How to replace" check off "Replace only text found with
replacement text"

That will get rid of all the occurrences of the word "County" in
your short location.

Sorry Dave,

Not a workable solution when using my big location database. It
would take many "moons" doing them one at a time.
Any more suggestions from the Legacy Users group .... I hope
David

Anyone know how I can "delete" just the county in all my
short name
locations? Is this possible?
Edit each "Short Location" entry in your Master Location list.
