Unless there has been a major undocumented change between V5 and V6, you most definitely DON'T have all the bases covered when it comes to marriages and other relationships. In V5 I am unable to even create a marriage/relationship between individuals of the same gender. It's not just that the wording in reports is messed up -- it flat out won't let me enter the second individual.

If Legacy were strictly a genealogical program this would be understandable, since only biological relationships would matter. But Legacy also enters the realm of family history and sociology by providing for many relationships other than strictly biological. In those cases, the sexes of the individuals cannot be pre-determined by any type of logic, so there should be no edit rules preventing accurate data entry.

Legacy must allow us to enter the facts as they exist. This means that marriages, as well as other relationships, can exist between people regardless of gender. Perhaps an "Are you sure?" warning might be acceptable when individuals are of the same sex, but definitely not an absolute prohibition. These same-sex couples may or may not have children, who may be adopted, foster, half-biological, or whatever.

The only absolute rule that I can think of is that biological children will always have both a male and a female natural parent, whether we know who they are or not, so edit rules should go no further than that. Perhaps then you will have all the "marriage" bases covered.
