I have to admit that the latest "research" facilities have turned out to be
not only fairly useless, but detrimental to my research.

I'm sure someone thought the "Research Guidance" tab was a great idea - but
it is utter nonsense - the same things over and over and over, without
regard to whether they've actually been researched already. It is computer
blither of the worst order. Plus the preliminary survey runs at the drop of
a hat, and seriously resists interruption.

If only as much time was spent on the underlying data model, adding better
relationship handling, and better report and web options.

Legacy News needs to be configurable to allow me to filter out the trash
content. I want to see updates, but crossword puzzles? Computers of the
future?  Finding public libraries?  <sigh>  I have a perfectly good browser;
I have phone books; there's a reference desk at the library. I don't need
this in my genealogy software.

I'd like to see full event status for birth, death, and other events that
are short-changed. I'd like to see better relational capabilities; for
example, we should be able to enter something like a census entry (with user
defined templates) once, and be able to link every person in the household
back to it(as head of household, son, farmhand, maid, whatever). Better
reports, better web output.

6.0 has proved to be quite a disappointment; the longer I use it, the less
it offers over 5.

I think this clearly underline the need for separate files for the various
components of the Main Program. Personally I would gladly do without the
Research Assistant as well as the Legacy Home parts of the main program. To
me those are of no use whatsoever and I would like to reiterate that I
believe the same applies to about 50% or more of the user-base of Legacy.
