Dennis,

First of all the last (highest) RIN number in your family file is not
necessarily the number of people in your family file because there may be
gaps in the RINs. Gaps will appear whenever you delete people or merge
records. In addition, depending on the renumbering option chosen during
certain imports, you can also get gaps in RINs.

If you have the Deluxe edition of Legacy 4.0, you can renumber your RINs to
fill in the gaps by clicking on Tools and selecting Renumber RINs. Just
follow the prompts the screen gives you. After you have filled in the
missing RINs from the highest RINs, then your last (highest) RIN should
equal the number of persons in your family file.

To repair runtime error do a check and repair of your family file. Click on
File and select File Maintenance > Check/Repair. If the error pops up as you
are proceeding with the repair, click the NO button in the warning box as
many times as needed to complete the repair. Do the Check and Repair twice
in a row for good measure.

If you still get runtime error 3021 please refer to
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpJetServPk.asp for additional repair
steps. If needed, you can download the final version of Legacy 4.0 at

Subject: [LegacyUG] Error 3021

Legacy,
I am using Legacy 4 Deluxe Edition (4.0.0288 Nov 17 2003 build date) and I
like it just fine. After all the years of no problems, one has finally
reared its ugly head.

When I go to "Help" and click on "General Information" it says I only have
1,637 entries. BUT, if I go to "View" and click on "Name List" and sort by
RIN the last name is at 1,657.

When I try to add a new person I get the following:
"Error getting Next Deleted RIN
3021: No current record
Would you like to Try It Again?"

If I click "Yes" I keep geting the same error. If I click "No" it allows me

to add a new person - and I guess I've added twenty.

This is irritating and worry-some. Please tell me an easy fix.
