About entering your census information -- methodology : I'm not convinced, though, that this is the best method.

What method do you find the best? is the method you should use. This is how i do it :

Summary of Census:  With many new differences between census
1.) alternative birth date for Silas 1818 veres 1820. 2.) Different wife Name. This supports family legend what Silas did remarry.
3.)  Silas did not move around.  Did he own land?
4.) No.5. I believe Trenis is Zenia. The writting on the census paper can go either way. My family letter has Zenia 5.) No.6 How and why people miss interupt Isaac and Jacob is beyond me. Isaac is clearly listed in the 1850 census 5.) Silas is a farmer The [ ] are my additions to the census I alway evalutate the census in summary. I do this for every individual in my data base
