Doug, Thanks - I have downloaded the latest update and everything is fine now. I will bear in mind your comments about GedStar-Plus/GedStar-Pro and will probably upgrade in the near future.
Please do not take my email as criticism of your product - I have been a satisfied customer for some time - it was more a case of frustration at having a perfectly working process/product suddenly "fail" at a crucial point in time. I was a developer for 20+ years so I am quite aware of the constraints that you are working under <grin>. You just need to get the latest GedStar-Plus update, which you can find at http://www.ghcssoftware.com/proddownload.htm. The latest update to Legacy V5 in fact uses the V6 database standard, so it is not "nonsense" that you got that error message. When I write the software, I can only write it to the latest specifications, and can't look into the future to know what might be changed in later releases. So I have to put a check in the program to only allow database versions that I have certified the program to work with. In this case, there was really no change in the V6 database that affected GedStar-Plus, so I just had to make a minor change to allow it to accept the new version. Anyone still using GedStar-Plus should really consider moving to GedStar Pro. GedStar Pro converts LOTS more data than the original products, plus has features like support for your To-Do list and displaying pictures from your database. Also, GedStar-Plus will not receive any further updates and might not work on some future version of the database, whereas GedStar Pro is the product that is under continued development.
