Yes, Markie, I understand. The current situation is easy and flexible.
I also know that I'm a bit off the common path here. :-)

But I just want to have the data structures in the program reflect
the actual data. As you have just written, sometimes we have these
things that don't have dates associated with them. Those things are
Facts, not Events to me. The program would be stronger if it
reflected that IMO. I also would like to see more structure around
names. Currently Legacy divides names up into four pieces, Title
prefix, Given Name, Surname, Title Postfix. But as others have
pointed out that doesn't cover all the variants well, such as scandanavian
farm names. It would also be nice to have a separate field for
nicknames IMO.

Legacy's makers could include support for facts in say the next
release. You wouldn't have to use them. I don't use the Geo-Base
now. I didn't even load the Geo-Base DB when V5 came out, and
I only just got a free version of V6 at a Gen Conference. I still use
V5 for nearly all my work because it's the only one that's deluxified,
that is, that I've spent dinero for. Legacy has many features, and I
doubt anyone uses all of them.

Oh, and I just realized that Legacy does support facts, but in a
very limited way. Note the Cause of Death field. That's a fact.
